EUGENE, Ore. — Marcus Mariota capped off a nine play, 83 yard drive with a 12 yard touchdown pass to Josh Huff with 29 seconds left as the Oregon Ducks came back to beat Oregon State 36-35 in Friday’s Civil War. It was the end of a wild second half that saw the lead change hands six different times.
The Ducks jumped out to a 14-0 lead after the first quarter, thanks to touchdowns from De’Anthony Thomas and Thomas Tyner. The Beavers responded with a big second quarter to send the game to halftime tied at 17.
Oregon State struck first in the third quarter with a Tervor Romaine field goal, and the teams continued to trade scores for most of the half. The Beavers took a 35-30 lead with 1:38 in the fourth on Victor Bolden’s 25 yard touchdown run.
Senior Josh Huff led the way for the Ducks with 186 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Terron Ward led the Beavers rushing attack that nearly tripled its per-game average, with 231 yards against the Ducks.
Oregon improves to 10-2 with the win, while the Beavers drop to 6-6. It’s the sixth straight Civil War win for the Ducks.
